Vilgain Freeze-dried Dragon Fruit, or pitahaya, has a distinctive purple color and crisp black seeds. It can enhance any sweet dish or dessert, both in taste and in vitamins, which are not destroyed thanks to freeze-drying.
How does such a freeze-drying process actually work? Dragon fruit or other fruits (even vegetables) are exposed to high degrees of frost and then slowly dried in a vacuum, completely removing water. Through this process, the fruit gains its typical lightness, retains its color, aroma and flavor. In addition, the fruit is packed with vitamins, which are preserved as fresh fruit because it is not affected by heat. Dragon fruit naturally contains high amounts of vitamin C, B vitamins and minerals such as magnesium and iron.
You can use freeze-dried fruit anywhere you use fresh fruit. You can use it to decorate and flavor porridge, yogurt, muesli with milk, or smoothies. It is also very popular with confectioners, as it can be used to decorate desserts easily and effectively. Dragon fruit can be used whole or you can crumble it between your fingers - thanks to the perfect drying, you will create a fine powder. Freeze-dried dragon fruit has one more perfect property - as soon as you soak it in water, it swells again and regains its original size, structure and will be indistinguishable from classic fresh fruit.
