A slightly bitter, slightly smoky infusion from the bark of a tree called the Tree of Life is a great South American alternative to black tea. Preparation instructions: Boil a heaping tablespoon of lapacho in 3/4 liter of water for about 5 minutes, then let it steep for another 15 minutes. Store in a dry and cool place.
