Epsom salt is named after a spring near the town of Epsom in the English county of Surrey. It is currently obtained mainly by mining, rather than by distillation from mineral water.

Epsom salt is a compound of magnesium and sulfate. It is made up of small, colorless crystals that visually resemble table salt. Magnesium plays an important role in the body, supporting the function of muscles and nerves and helping to produce the hormone responsible for happiness - serotonin.

Uses of Epsom salt

Bath

If you want to relieve tension and reduce stress after a hard day, add one or two cups of Epsom salt to your bath and relax for at least 20 minutes. Not only will it relax your muscles, but it will also help you relax mentally.

For a detox bath, add at least two cups of Epsom salt to the water and relax for 40 minutes. In the first twenty minutes, the body will get rid of toxins, while in the next twenty minutes, minerals from the water will be absorbed. It is necessary to drink water before the bath to avoid dehydration and to make the detoxification as effective as possible.

Cosmetics

Epsom salt can also be used for other purposes. We can prepare a peeling from it that helps reduce cellulite on the buttocks and thighs or it can be added to a cleansing gel and used on the face. It rejuvenates, hydrates the skin and, of course, cleanses.
