Cashew nuts are not actually nuts, but the false fruits of the kidney tree. They grow as the seed of its true fruits – the so-called “cashew apples”. The kidney tree bears fruit, similar to our Czech apple tree, once a year, with one apple yielding one cashew nut. After the harvest, only 60–80 kg of shelled cashews remain.
